I'm Valen Hinojosa (Coffee Bat online), I'm a CS Student, game developer and composer (More on my about page).
My main skills are low level development on the Nintendo Game Boy Color (ASM), Experiments with game frameworks (Godot, Love2D & LUA, C/++ and SDL3, ImGUI, etc) and tool development for streamlining manual processes (level converters, graphics tools, automate custom data generation, etc).
I'm currently working on my own GBC game and other side projects (alongside playing in a band), but I'm looking for game development projects to properly put my skills to work and learn the formal workflow of development.
This is an addendum to my public portfolio and other public projects, including misc. programming experiments I haven't finished or bothered to polish for publication, but work as a showcase of my skills.
Be sure to check the other pages in this site to see my other works, this is only my unfinished/unplublished works!.
A test for wrapping SameBoy as a DLL, loaded inside godot using Mono. A experiment to develop my own game wrapper menu, similar to Digital Eclipse releases.
An extension module that adds a tab for generating achievemnt data, plus a handler that keeps track of achievement state, inspired by steam's achievemnt system.
A realtime preview tool made in Love2D and ImGui to preview PNG files post-gameboy data conversion, immediately shows the result or tells the user what went wrong during conversion, also applies filters to simulate the GBC's color shirt.
Very simple C-based Raspberry PICO adapter to convert PS2 mouse data to the SNES protocol, works well enough for mario paint.
A well documented reverse engineering of a popular 2001 Game Boy sound engine, alongside custom tools to demangle binary data and markdown documentation on the format.
